FAQ and Support
Frequently asked questions
What plants can I grow?
You can grow over a thousand different plant varieties with iDro including leafy greens, fruiting vegetables like tomatoes and peppers as well as root vegetables and more.
How big is iDro?
iDro is 43" tall and 25" in diameter.
How often do I need to add water?
The app will notify you when your water reservoir is getting low but on average you will add about 1 gallon of water every two weeks.
Is iDro really fully automated?
We manage everything from lighting and watering to nutrient level, pH, CO2, air temperature and humidity. You will need to add water every now and then but you can just sit back and watch your plants grow. We will provide step-by-step videos through our app to show you how you can further improve your plants' growth but those are totally optional.
Is the app free?
Yes, but it won't be able to do anything until you purchase an iDro.
How often will I need to replace the nutrient bottles, growing media, CO2 and Carbon Filter?
These should last the length of a full grow cycle which is three to four months long. After that we recommend starting a new plant. These will cost around $20/month.
Why should I buy iDro and not a different automated garden?
iDro matches the low price of smaller systems with the size and automation of larger, more expensive gardens. This allows you to achieve large yields without having to break the bank.
How many plants can I grow at once?
This will depend on the type of plant you are growing. For larger plants, we recommend only growing one, but if you are growing something small like leafy greens, you can grow up to 6 at one time.
Where will iDro ship to?
iDro will initially ship to Canada and the US.
Where should I put my iDro?
We recommend placing your iDro in an area of your home that is already climate controlled(i.e. cooled in the summer and heated in the winter). This will reduce the amount of work your iDro has to do to maintain optimal growing conditions and therefore keep your electric bill low.
